Topless photos leaked online of actress Megan Fox (#1), recently named "Sexiest Woman in the World" for 2008 by Maxim Magazine, help drive Fox to the top spot on this week's Lycos 50.   Meanwhile, an apparent teen pregnancy boom at Gloucester High School in Gloucester, Mass., causes a spike in search activity for the school, gaining 300 percent following national coverage in TIME Magazine.  Of the 17 teen students who are expecting babies, TIME reports the students opted into a pact to get pregnant and raise their children together, although the Gloucester Superintendent of Schools and the Mayor of Gloucester claim they have no confirmation or proof such a pact exists.  And in other teen pregnancy news, search interest in actress Jamie Lynn Spears, best known as little sister to Britney, and star of the Disney Channel's "Zoey 101," sees a 500 percent bump after giving birth last week to a baby girl. Finally, if web search activity is any indication, "America's Got Talent" is the big winner with web users this summer, gaining 470 percent in search popularity over the past week.

CDNetworks Provides Content Delivery to New Lycos Cinema - Video Community

Delivers Improved Content Security and Enhanced Quality Using CDNetworks' Security & Adobe's Latest Flash Media Server 3 Technology

San Jose, CA - June 10, 2008 - CDNetworks (KOSDAQ: 073710), a top-three global, full-service content delivery network (CDN), today announced that Lycos, Inc. has selected CDNetworks to provide global network infrastructure and advanced CDN technology to its Lycos Cinema platform. The Lycos Cinema video community social viewing experience now features enhanced viewing from CDNetworks' implementation of Adobe Flash Media Server 3, enabling new video on demand (VOD) rental business models and revenue streams for Lycos Cinema.

Lycos Cinema, bringing people together one flick at a time, gives users the opportunity to watch and interact around premium rentals and free VOD ad-supported film and episodic television titles. Lycos's synchronous Watch & Interact technology enables multiple users to view the same video at the same time with anyone, anywhere, at anytime -- all while chatting and socializing. Lycos kicked off the re-launch of its CDNetworks-enhanced Cinema platform by teaming with IndependentFeatures.com, a pioneer of the first independent film festival where film selection is done entirely online via a web-based competition.

Lycos Cinema is leveraging CDNetworks' content delivery technology, including Media Authentication, origin storage, and origin pull, across its global network. CDNetworks' origin server significantly reduces the complexity of managing on-line content and the cost of content storage. The combined Adobe FMS 3 RTMPE and CDNetworks Media Authentication provide Lycos Cinema with advanced features for streaming authentication. These technologies have introduced new business models for Lycos Cinema, including video on demand premium rentals, providing an easier approach to content publication at reduced costs. Additionally, CDNetworks provides higher video quality and better security for Lycos Cinema content partners.

"We selected CDNetworks as our content delivery provider because of its ability to immediately deploy FMS 3 coupled with its own leading-edge CDN technology and content delivery infrastructure," said Chuck Ball, vice president of sales and marketing for Lycos, Inc. "CDNetworks' ability to quickly implement a complex Flash media infrastructure enables us to provide leading-edge content security to our partners while providing an exceptionally high quality video viewing experience to Lycos Cinema viewers."

"Lycos Cinema is the only online social video viewing experience, where users can watch content synchronously and interact in real-time," said Simon Lee, CEO of CDNetworks US. "CDNetworks is happy to provide the infrastructure enabling a new revenue model for Lycos, while offering Lycos Cinema users near HD, high quality video viewing."

Lycos Launches Spotlight on Award-Winning Independent Film Content on Lycos Cinema

LYCOS SPONSORS WIRELESS CAFÉ IN THE AMERICAN PAVILION AT CANNES; FEATURES SPOTLIGHT ON AWARD-WINNING INDEPENDENT FILMS NOW AVAILABLE ON LYCOS CINEMA

Voting Now Underway in 2008 Independent Features Film Festival Online Competition on Lycos Cinema

WALTHAM, Mass. - May 19, 2008 - Lycos, Inc., a leading provider of social publishing, media and search services, today announced from the Cannes Film Festival, its Wireless Café sponsorship in The American Pavilion at Cannes, and the launch of its Award-Winning Independent Film Spotlight now available on Lycos Cinema. Lycos's patent-pending synchronous Watch & Interact technology enables multiple users to view the same video at the same time with anyone, anywhere, at anytime--all while chatting and socializing. Lycos Cinema is sponsoring start pages on all computers available in the Wireless Café within The American Pavilion at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. The Wireless Café is one of the most popular features of The American Pavilion; the venue where industry professionals turn to stay connected. Since 1989, The American Pavilion has been the hub of American activity at the Cannes Film Festival, serving as a communication and hospitality center for thousands of Americans in Cannes during the 12-day festival. The Pavilion provides great exposure to filmmakers, journalists and festival attendees, offering both a dynamic business environment and a comfortable place to relax.

"Independent film fans are a key audience for our Lycos Cinema community, and the Cyber Café at The American Pavilion in Cannes is an ideal venue for us to showcase what Lycos Cinema offers to independent filmmakers worldwide," said Chuck Ball, vice president of sales and marketing for Lycos, Inc. "With Lycos Cinema, independent producers and filmmakers reach international moviegoers, while independent film fans discover new voices and unique visions, and meet other global fans in the process."

Lycos Cinema's new spotlight on independent films now features award-winning titles from the most respected film festival audiences worldwide including Cannes, Sundance, Australian Film Institute, Slamdance Film Festival, New York International Independent Film & Video Festival, and many more.

For fans looking to discover the next great filmmaker or independent film, Lycos has teamed with IndependentFeatures.com, pioneer of the first independent film festival where film selection is done entirely online via a web-based competition. Voting is underway and runs through June 30th. The top 21 films will receive an invitation to the Independent Features Film Festival, July 25-27, 2008 at the acclaimed Tribeca Cinemas in NYC and will be available exclusively on Lycos Cinema.

This year, the online viewing and voting process has been significantly enhanced with the addition of Lycos's patent-pending synchronous Watch & Interact technology, enabling the public to screen, chat and vote for their favorite films alone or with a group of friends. Another new addition to the Independent Features festival will be several "special screenings" where a director, producer or talent will be in the screening room answering questions live.

Lycos re-introduced its Cinema community earlier this month, adding video on demand (VOD) rentals to its existing ad-supported Lycos Cinema content, greatly expanding the interactive social video viewing experience. Lycos Cinema is the only online social viewing experience to offer synchronous SimulStream community viewing, allowing users to come together to view film and other video content in public or private screening rooms, in four different screening modes, including both full and mini-screen modes. With the addition of VOD rentals, Lycos introduces a new StoreFront business model to complement its free, advertising-supported content, providing a customized, studio boutique solution for the promotion of upcoming DVD and theatrical releases. The new Lycos Cinema player utilizes the latest in Flash Media Serving Technology, employing MPEG-4 to deliver H.264 streams, to provide higher video quality and offering better security for content partners.

Lycos first raised the curtain on Cinema in November 2006 with the debut of the Internet's only video-based socialization product to combine various Web 2.0 applications into one platform, allowing multiple users to watch video synchronously and chat about the content in real-time. Since then, Lycos Cinema has powered several successful online viewing parties for first-run television programming, giving TV audiences the opportunity to watch their favorite shows synchronously with other friends and fans, chat in real-time while watching, and interact with their favorite show stars.

Search interest in Marilyn Monroe skyrockets 800 percent after rumors of a Monroe sex tape selling for $1.5 million began to surface last week. Skeptics claim the tape is a sham and reports now indicate the sex tape was a part of a publicity stunt by Keya Morgan, a memorabilia collector who claimed to stumble across the footage while researching his documentary on Monroe. Search activity is also on the rise for Time Magazine, up 412 percent following controversy surrounding its April 21 cover issue in which the editors decided to take the famous Iwo Jima photograph of the Marines raising the American flag and replace the flag with a tree to promote environmental awareness. Iwo Jima veterans including Donald Mates are now outraged, calling Time's move a "disgrace." Time Magazine managing editor Richard Stengel appeared on MSNBC April 17, defending the cover's purpose stating the U.S. needs to make a major effort to fight climate change. Meanwhile, Craigslist makes its first-ever appearance on the list, debuting at number 40 on the Lycos 50 this week. And controversial talk radio personality Howard Stern re-enters the Lycos top search list at number 39 following the surprise, apparent departure of his on-air sidekick, comedian Artie Lange. During a live broadcast last week, Lange quit his 7-year-run on "The Howard Stern Show," following a violent outburst on Thursday's Sirius Satellite Radio broadcast. Lange had an altercation with his personal assistant in the hallways of Stern's studio that made its way on air and nearly became physical before show staffers intervened. Lange then told Stern, "I can't guarantee that won't happen again," to which Stern quickly replied: "Then you can't be here anymore." Lange then offered his resignation, which Stern accepted. While fans wait to see if Lange's resignation will hold, Stern's show did not broadcast live on Friday and is on vacation this week.

Lycos Teams with Click Forensics to Improve PPC Traffic Quality

SAN FRANCISCO - April 16, 2008 - During Ad Tech San Francisco today, Click ForensicsTM, Inc., the leading provider of traffic quality management solutions, today announced that Lycos, Inc. (www.lycos.com) is the latest top online property to team with Click Forensics to improve Pay Per Click (PPC) traffic quality for search marketers. As part of the agreement, Lycos is using Click Forensics for Publishers to filter out poor quality PPC traffic before it affects client ad campaigns, resulting in better overall traffic quality for advertisers running campaigns in the Lycos social publishing, media and search services offerings.

"Because Click Forensics has access to critical PPC traffic data that search engines don't, its solutions enable us to maintain the highest quality of the search traffic we send to our advertisers and partners," said Ed Noel, General Manager of Search Products for Lycos, Inc.

In addition to filtering out low quality traffic in real-time, Click Forensics for Publishers delivers regular updates on new sites and sources perpetrating click fraud or those sending bad traffic to clients and members. The service is similar to a spam filter that receives regular updates on sources of spam and phishing schemes.

"Lycos is one of the oldest and most widely-known Internet brands in the world, reaching 10 percent of the global population with more than 65 million unique visitors," said Tom Cuthbert, president of Click Forensics. "They understand advertisers will no longer tolerate low quality traffic or click fraud often missed by search engines, ad networks and online publishers. By teaming with us, Lycos is taking a leadership role to proactively block low quality traffic before it affects client campaigns."

Using patent-pending analytics and live campaign data from the Click Fraud NetworkTM, Click Forensics for Publishers identifies sources of click fraud and poor quality traffic. Information is updated in real-time as data is continuously gathered from live campaigns tracked across various search engines, content networks and publisher sites from the advertisers. Specific data tailored to the needs of the individual publisher or ad network is then provided via an API so intelligent filtering decisions can be made.

For more information on Click Forensics, visit www.clickforensics.com.

Lycos Teams with SpotXchange for in-game video ads

InGame Video Ad Network Reaches a Captive Audience

WESTMINSTER, Colo., April 10. Leading online video advertising network SpotXchange announced a list of top casual gaming sites who are making their InGame video ad inventory available to advertisers in the SpotXchange marketplace. This portfolio of partners includes NeoEdge Networks, eGames.com, Slingo.com, NetWinner's AdverGame Network, Moola.com, and Lycos's Gamesville.com. According to various third-party measurement firms, SpotXchange's network of casual gaming publishers reaches over 25 million unique monthly visitors in aggregate.

Most casual gaming inventory is monetized by static or rich-media display advertisements that run before a game starts or between game levels. While they generate revenue for casual gaming publishers, display advertisements do not leverage the inventory's true value given the dramatically high brand exposure and interaction rates generated by InGame video ads.

"When Education Connection advertises on TV our target is stay-at-home moms looking for career options. SpotXchange's casual gaming inventory is spot-on for this demographic," said Education Connection Chief Operating Officer Todd Zipper. "We have been very pleased as casual gamers are not only clicking on our ads, but they are also converting to leads at high rates."

Advertisers currently buying InGame video inventory through the SpotXchange marketplace are reaching an engaged and ultra-targeted consumer. The effectiveness of video advertising is commonly measured by click-through rates and the average amount of the video advertisement viewed. On average, SpotXchange casual gaming publishers deliver click-through rates between one and five percent. In February, over 90 percent of the InGame video advertisements served by SpotXchange were watched in full.

"Casual gaming is one of the most popular forms of online entertainment. A Parks Associates report from August 2007 puts it above even online video viewing," said SpotXchange CEO/President Michael Shehan. "Combine that growth and popularity with engagement and targeting and it's clear why SpotXchange is so bullish with this vertical."

The SpotXchange platform allows advertisers to launch precisely targeted video ad campaigns in minutes. The transparent marketplace provides advertisers the ability to target specific publishers and content categories (e.g. casual gaming, news, sports, etc.). Additionally, advertisers can refine their targeting to reach users by region (country, state, and/or DMA) and time of day. SpotXchange enables advertisers to target specific demographics such as gender and age group on publisher sites that require this information for user registration. More information on InGame advertising through the SpotXchange marketplace is available at http://spotxchange.com/spx_advertisers_netvert_casgaming.html.

Search Gainers:

Angelina Jolie tops the Lycos 50 this week, jumping 444 percent in search interest as provocative photos taken of the actress when she was 16-years-old were recently released by In Touch Weekly Magazine. Web users also flocked to the internet following a Star Magazine report that Jolie and Brad Pitt wed on Sat. March 29, but sources close to the couple quickly put those rumors to rest. Actress Eva Longoria sees her search activity pop 215 percent after website X17 posted an apology Friday for falsely reporting her husband Tony Parker had an affair with a woman named Alexandra Paressant in Dec. 2007. And celebrity blogger Perez Hilton scores big with web users on Lycos, rising 177 percent after stating he and singer John Mayer "hooked up" at club Stereo in New York City. Hilton is so adamant about his night with Mayer that he took a lie detector test with an examiner from Fox's hit show, "The Moment of Truth." Hilton will also soon be dishing up celebrity dirt on his new three-minute-long radio shows, scheduled to begin airing May 5 during morning and evening drive times in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and other big cities, with more markets planned over the next few months.
